Alexander O'Neal now joins the honour roll of world-class icons such as Prince and Chaka Khan in having performed at indigO2.
Mississippi born Alexander O’Neal is no stranger to the UK following several hit singles and albums, including If You Were Here Tonight, Fake and the 80’s smash hit, Criticize off the album Hearsay which sold over 700,00 copies in the UK. Alexander is the only R & B star to sell out six consecutive nights at Wembley Arena and most recently, he featured in Channel 4’s Celebrity Wife Swap.
Kenny Thomas, hailing from Islington, North London was a former boxer turned R & B crooner. Kenny’s debut album Voices hit no. 3 in the UK National charts in 1991, aiding the transition of the UK soul movement from underground to mainstream. In following years, Kenny went on to be twice Brit nominated and record five albums, his most recent being Crazy World (2006)
British soul icon Junior, kicked off his fruitful career in 1982 with popular single Mama Used To Say, which was later covered in 2000 by his Comedian/Presenter nephew, Richard Blackwood. Junior went on to reach a Top 20 chart position with Too Late plus the top 10 duet with Kim Wild- Another Step.
Funk Soul legends Heatwave are as much spectacular performers as they are notable songwriters. Best known for certified Gold single Boogie Nights (1977) and Always and Forever (1976) later covered by Luther Vandross. Former Heatwave member Rod Temperton went on to write cult Michael Jackson hits- Rock With You, Off The Wall and Thriller.
