Legendary Funk Soul group Kool & The Gang held a one-off concert at indigO2 on September 5th 2008.

After a two-year absence from performing on UK shores, Kool & The Gang played an exclusive concert at indigO2 in London.  With a spectacular career spanning 39 years and 70 million albums sold, Kool & The Gang added this indigO2 date to their September European tour.

With cross-generational, classics songs such as Celebration, Cherish and Open Sesame, Kool & the Gang’s infectious Funk/Jazz and Soul fusion have earned the group two Grammy Awards and 31 Gold and Platinum certified albums. The distinct Kool & The Gang sound has undoubtedly influenced the musical style of many an artist.  Kool & The Gang are the most sampled group in the world with the likes of Madonna, Janet Jackson and Will Smith having sampled songs from the New Jersey bred super group.

In 1969 their debut self-titled, instrumental album was born. And with an ever expanding-fan base, the group went on to spawn hit-making tracks such as Summer Madness which featured on the Rocky movie soundtrack, and later songs Love & Understanding and Open Sesame both featured on the top-selling movie soundtrack of all time, Saturday Night Fever. 

Into the 80’s the Kool & The Gang chart domination continued, earning them double-platinum sales for Celebrate.  Most recently the band has collaborated with artists Lil’ Kim and Ashanti amongst others, for the Hits Reloaded album.  2007 saw the hotly anticipated release of Still Kool their most recent studio album.

Kool and The Gang now join the honour roll of world-class icons such as Prince and Chaka Khan in having performed at indigO2.
