Yinka is a London blogger and authour of Vex in the City. She loves to write about the latest ‘must have’ beauty products.

Q. What inspired you to become a beauty blogger and what is the philosophy behind Vex in the City?

A. Writing and beauty have been two of my favourite interests for as long as I can remember, so when I stumbled upon beauty blogs a few years ago, I thought "Oh I can do that!" and so I did! Also, when I began to write Vex in the City almost four years ago, there were very few beauty blogs written by girls with similar complexions to my own, based here in the UK. I thought it would be helpful to share reviews and swatches of some of the most popular products on a darker skin tone as I can't have been the only one who sought them out on the internet.

Vex in the City, is my creative outlet and at times I find it quite therapeutic to natter away about lipstick or the latest beauty launch when I've been stressed out at work all day or irritated beyond belief on the commute home. My tone is very conversational. I'm no 'expert', just an enthusiastic consumer, who happens to own more make up than your average person and likes to talk about it. I'm perfectly normal though - I don't sleep with lipsticks under my pillow or anything ridiculous like that!

Q. What beauty product could you not live without?

A.I really can't choose one, but at a push I'll go with NARS blush in Gina. It's a gorgeous matte peach which brightens me up and leaves a gorgeous natural looking glow. I can't enough of it. I'm a certified blush addict and owned over 80 at last count, which was a good few months ago. Heaven knows how many I have now!

Q. Which three top beauty buys would you recommend for keeping skin hydrated during winter?

A. Trilogy Rosehip Oil

Dr hauschka Rose Day Cream

Neutrogena Deep Moisture Comfort Balm

Q. Do you have a favourite make up range?

A. I'm so fickle, it changes all the time. I'm enjoying Smashbox, Estee Lauder and Topshop makeup at the moment. See? I can't pick one, sorry!

Q. Which beauty products would you recommend to someone who wanted to create a bold smokey eye effect, for a night out in London?

A. NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean (on the lid - decide how intense you want to apply it), add the colour eyeshadow of your choice on top, or if you want a black eye shadow, I'd recommend Blackout by Urban Decay. Blend, blend, blend and then line eyes and smudge as necessary with Urban Decay 24-7 Liner in Zero. Add mascara, I like to use Lancome Hypnose Drama and then Benefit They're Real on top for "Wow" lashes.

Q. What would be the perfect look for a Christmas party this year?

A. Warm cheeks, a glossy bright lip and your best volume mascara - or falsies!
