The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in London exists to make the region better skilled and more competitive. It is responsible for ensuring the availability of high-quality education and training for everyone and has a single goal: to improve the skills of London’s young people and adults to world class standards. Its vision is that young people and adults in London have knowledge and skills matching the best in the world and are part of a truly competitive workforce.

Apprenticeships are run through the LSC. They can make organisations more effective, productive and competitive by addressing skills gaps directly. They are designed to help employees reach a high level of competency and performance by combining classroom and practical, on-the-job learning. There are over 180 different Apprenticeship frameworks available across 80 different industry sectors.

Outstanding Young Person

The Jack Petchey Foundation was established in 1999 to support young people aged 11-25 through programmes in schools and youth organisations. Since its formation, over £60 million has been distributed to youth programmes.
