Hotel shortage could benefit locals

25 August 2008
NEWHAM residents with spare rooms could benefit from a shortage of hotels during the 2012 Olympics.

In fact 2,000 people have already signed up to RoomFT, an accommodation website that matches tourists and visitors looking for accommodation.

It caters for people who may need a place to stay for as little as one night and homeowners looking to cash in on a spare room. The website has signed its two thousandth member less than eight months after launching in November 2007. The first website of its kind, RoomFT now has members in more than 60 countries and has 1,900 rooms on offer.
