Bizarre rush-hour antics seem to be in vogue at the moment. Last Friday workers in Farringdon were left bemused by a man being led around on a leash – meanwhile commuters on London Bridge were thrilled by a daredevil riding a Boris bike along the dizzying edge of London Bridge.

It also emerged that the same death-defying riders had been cycling on rooftops on Regent Street on Thursday, and London24 tracked down the tricksters dicing with danger.

It turns out the mad Boris bicyclists are world-renowned freerunners Tim Shieff and Paul Joseph, who filmed their antics for urban sport video site Fightme.

Tim rides a Boris bike regularly, so it was a natural progression to combine his cycling with his stunt work. He said his crazy antics on London Bridge were about “trying to wake people up to other perspectives of London”.

The rider said they had experienced “very mixed views” from onlookers.

“Some people live in fear and will have a negative perspective,” he said.

“But many people have the eyes of a child and see new things with wonder, not fear in the eyes of an adult.

“A lot of people in London live through fear. We want to reach out to the people who see the city with wonder.”

The daredevil, who is frequently found doing tricks on the public cycle hire bikes, added: “When you see a guy jumping walls on a Boris bike you can’t help but stop and be in the moment for a second. You dont worry about your issues or think about going to work for a second - you say: ‘Woah did that guy really just jump that on a big blue bike?’

“I like making people think through showing them talent and giving them something to appreciate.”

Love them or hate them, pigeons are a fact of life in London. We’re used to seeing the scruffy sort pecking at fag butts and pooping everywhere - but their fancier cousins are a sight to behold.
