An unexpected half time shower is enough to dampen any football fan’s spirits.

With Liverpool losing 1-0 to Newcastle at half time of a recent Premier League match, things suddenly got a whole lot worse for one section of the Anfield crowd.

As the players trudged off to the warm comfort of their dressing rooms, an automatic pitch-watering sprinkler started misfiring, drenching hundreds of fans with an icy jet of water that even reached the directors’ box.

Fortunately for the shivering Liverpool supporters, ground staff were onto the scene quickly and managed to fix the problem within a couple of minutes.

And Liverpool’s second-half equaliser provided further comfort for the soggy sufferers.
