Young people with dementia are taking part in an innovative art programme that teams the Alzheimer’s Society with the National Gallery.

Over the coming weeks, the group will meet with National Gallery artist Al Johnson for practical sessions specially developed for them.

They will craft their own pieces of art. The project will end with a visit and guided tour of the National Gallery.

Joelle Copeland of the Alzheimer’s Society said: “The group offers a place for younger people to socialise with people their own age and provides a safe and entertaining environment.

“Art and music can help people reconnect memories and stay connected to the community.”
