Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, as worn by Judy Garland, will be displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington.

The famous footwear was worn in the 1939 film in which Garland played a farm girl on a magical journey. They will be shown with Dorothy’s blue-and-white gingham dress in Hollywood Costume,

Curators say it is the first time Dorothy’s dress and shoes have been together since the movie was filmed.

They are currently displayed at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, in Washington. They plan to hold a departure ceremony on Tuesday.

The exhibit will open at the V&A on October 20.
