The Grammy-award winning singer posted a picture to her Twitter page this afternoon featuring a piece of paper with the song title Skyfall in what looks like a recording studio.

Credits on the script show that it is written by Adele and Paul Epworth - who co-wrote and produced her hit Rolling in the Deep.

Bookmakers paid out on bets that Adele will sing the new James Bond theme last month, before the news was officially confirmed.

The film, starring Daniel Craig as Bond, is to be given its premiere in London next month.

Other notable Bond singers include Lulu, Sir Tom Jones, Madonna, and Dame Shirley Bassey, as well as A-Ha and Duran Duran.
