You’ve got the perfect autumn dress but not sure what lipstick shades go best with it? Help is at hand with our featured blogger, Jen Riley. In this blog she talks about her top picks for autumn/winter lipsticks.

This autumn is all about browner tones and purplesThis autumn is all about browner tones and purples

Something a little out of my comfort zone...rumour has it the 90s brown-toned lip is back for autumn, so I thought I’d take a little look at a few other shades that I thought would be popular for autumn/winter. Ranging from beige-nudes to purples to deep browns....

This range of shades is a little out of my comfort zone, with browner tones and purples - when I tend to lean towards safe pinks and nudes. But it’s good to try something different!

I actually discovered I did like the darker shades and will give them a go - in public and everything - this season. Of the five shades in this post my favourite has to be the Lancome - one of those crazy shades that looks terrifying in the bullet, but on is a gorgeous rich, yet bright purple shade. Goes to show, you can’t judge a lipstick by the bullet!

Of the other shades, I was surprised by the Bobbi Brown - when I saw it I thought there was no way I would be able to wear it but thanks to the creamy texture it’s actually far more wearable than I expected.

The safest option has to be the L’Oreal. The Burberry is lovely - a rosy, brown-toned shade that’s a dream to apply, one that changed my view on the brown-toned situation.

The YSL is lovely to apply and it’s bright and creamy - with a slight golden metallic sheen. This is the most night-time of the five shades I picked out in my eyes.

What do you think of these autumn shades? Going to step outside of your comfort zone for the new season?
