Winter is coming. The advent of November, the passing of Bonfire Night, and the chill in the air makes it unmistakable. So with the weather cooling down, what better place to warm up than one of London’s best pubs?

My favourite of these is the Holly Bush in Hampstead. Sure, it’s a bit of a trek for non-north Londoners to get to, but once you’re there, you’ll be amply rewarded. The pub itself is on a little cooked lane off the high street, making it a hidden gem away from the bustle.

Inside the Holly Bush, the jumble of historic rooms, wooden walls and tables, and cozy fireplaces all make for a proper winter pub experience. Upstairs is a dining room for those in search of a more formal environment, but downstairs is the best place to enjoy the atmosphere. Add to that a solid selection of drinks and great Sunday Roast, and you can set yourself up until spring arrives.
