John Barrowman wants to be part of Doctor Who anniversary

Actor John Barrowman wants to be part of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode.

The 45-year-old, who is currently starring in the CW’s new superhero show Arrow, would love his alter ego Captain Jack Harkness to make an appearance in the landmark episode of the BBC One sci-fi show in November 2013, but has yet to be asked by producers.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I haven’t been asked. I would love to if they ask me.

“Andrew Kreisberg [creator of ‘Arrow’] has already said if they want me in the 50th anniversary, he will give me the time off to do it. But it’s not up to me.”

John’s character was Doctor Who’s first bisexual hero and proved so popular with audiences that he landed the lead role in spin-off show Torchwood, but the programme is now in “limbo” until the time is right for Captain Jack’s return.

Writer Russell T. Davies recently explained: “It’s not officially cancelled - it’s in a nice limbo where it can stew. Those shows can come back in 10, 20 years time.”

Meanwhile David Tennant - who played the Time Lord from 2005 to 2010 - sparked speculation he would be returning for the 50th anniversary after responding to a question about it with a wink.
