Cave & Co throw their beastly, bristling last album to the wolves, including Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner.
Nick Cave’s mid-life crisis project may have thrown in the sweat-stained towel, but this posthumous collection of remixes offers a final dip in their acid bath of sexual frustration.
Like any remix record it’s a patchy affair. But with such gritty, primal source material to work with, there are some intense highs, particularly the excoriating guitar and electro-rock shake-up of Worm Tamer by A Place To Bury Strangers.
Queens Of The Stone Age’s Joshua Homme starves Mickey Bloody Mouse into an even leaner beast, twisting and stringing out its lupine howls to only intensify its bestial core.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner adds zing to his previously unreleased take on Bellringer Blues, too. Worth it for these alone.
