A multi-layered, independently-minded crossover record from a band evidently infatuated with mixing it up.

White Rabbits have come out fighting with this third album of aural twists and turns.

Opener Heavy Metal sucks you in and holds attention with groovy bassline, looped piano refrain and fey vocals, before the leopard changes its spots for the serrated guitar-led I’m Not Me, a perfect summation of these guys that has helped them secure support slots with the myriad likes of Muse, Fiery Furnaces and The Walkmen.

Produced by sometime Spoon cohort Mike McCarthy, there’s plenty of studio wizardry to the fore, and it’s well worth taking the time to listen carefully and unravel the splendid layers and combinations of guitar, drum patterns, synths, piano, vocals and effects.

This record has invention in spades. Something for everyone.
