Baywatch and Knight Rider star David Hasselhoff has sung the praises of the famous Battersea Dogs & Cats home after making a surprise visit.

The former Britain’s Got Talent judge was with his girlfriend Hayley Roberts and met some of Battersea’s 150 cats and 450 dogs, including a two-month-old mongrel called Dexter who was found abandoned in a cardboard box at three weeks old along with nine litter mates.

The Hoff said: “Battersea really is an incredible place and as an owner of several dogs I had an unforgettable experience seeing the animals today.

“I hope that every dog and cat here finds the loving new home they deserve and if anyone is thinking about getting a companion then they should definitely go to Battersea.”

The couple also met some of the Staffordshire bull terriers.

“It saddens me that people are quick to judge these beautiful creatures,” he added.

“Staffies are amazing, cuddly dogs and it’s about time people gave them a chance.”
