The sheer number of ingredients needed for the perfect curry is sometimes cited as a reason why most opt for a takeaway.
But for one award winning Paddington joint, the number of ingredients needed for its enduring success numbers only two.
Nitesh Goyal, manager of the Bombay Palace, says providing authentic food and turning out happy customers is the reason why they won Best London Restaurant at the British Curry Awards in Battersea on Monday.
He said his team was ecstatic to have been picked from 15 nominees for the accolade.
“If we manage to run to our two rules it results in more customers coming back again and again,” Mr Goyal said.
“It involves a lot of hard work and this accolade is testament to our efforts. It requires hard work every day, every month and every year.
They opened the franchise in 1981 after it was previously home to an Angus Steak House.
The Bombay Palace’s most popular dishes are grilled jumbo prawns and lamb chops.
The event was presented by former BBC correspondent Jenny Bond and comedian Rory Bremner.
Guests included restaurateurs, business owners, politicians and celebrities including Chris Grayling MP, UKIP party leader Nigel Farage MEP, and Dragons Den entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.
