British stars One Direction, Robbie Williams and Rhod Gilbert are among the performers at The Royal Variety Performance tonight.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the event in the presence of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

Comedian, actor and children’s author David Walliams will host the show at the Royal Albert Hall.

He said: “I am honoured to be presenting the Royal Variety Show this year. It is a show that I have watched every year from a very young age, and never dreamed I would be one day be a part of it. The line-up is out of this world.”

Music stars set to perform include One Direction, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and Girls Aloud, while comedians Rhod Gilbert and Bill Bailey are due to keep the crowd entertained.

This year’s Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh and canine companion Pudsey will also be performing.

The star-studded spectacular will take place this evening, and will be screened on ITV1 in early December.

All proceeds will be donated to The Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund (EABF), which cares for hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who need help and assistance as the result of old age, ill health or hard times.

This will help to run Brinsworth House in Twickenham, Middlesex, the entertainers’ retirement and nursing home run by the EABF, of which the Queen is patron.
