Stars of Strictly Come Dancing have been added to the bill for a major event for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Professional dancers and celebrity contestants from the BBC1 show will take part in the Jubilee Family Festival, being staged in London’s Hyde Park on June 2 and 3.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood will present the performances at the event, to be attended by up to 50,000 people each day.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be taking part in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’m so looking forward to bringing the full force of Strictly glamour to the proceedings.”

Further star names for the shows, backed by Sainsbury’s, are still to be announced.

The finale of each day will be a 70-minute Disney show - The Magic Of Disney In Concert.

Tickets for the shows - themed around village fetes, street parties and 60 years of British and Commonwealth heritage - went on sale today.
