Singing chimney sweep and X Factor sensation Kye Sones actually played with global megastars Scissor Sisters.

The revelation had bosses at the hit TV talent show scrambling to tell viewers he is not being ear-marked early for success.

Brush man Sones used to play in a band called Diagram of the Heart. It emerged they opened for the chart-topping Canadians, but never released an album.

An X Factor spokesman said: “People with raw talent all stand the same chance in the competition, whether they have been in the business before or not.”

Sones moved to play down his past experience by saying the X Factor was the most nervous he had ever been.

“Stepping on to the ‘X Factor’ stage I felt like I’d never sung before - it was so nerve-wracking,” Sones told The Sun newspaper.

“That’s why the response - from Gary, Louis and two of the hottest women in the world - just knocked my socks off.”

This is the first year where people can audition with their own songs or even have management deals in place.
