X Factor will feature former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell as a guest judge – but there is no word on whether the union jack dress she made famous will appear in homage to the Diamond Jubilee.

Series supremo Simon Cowell has still to appoint a successor to Kelly Rowland who will not be taking part in this year’s show.

Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos are already lined up to come back for this year’s series, but efforts to bring back Dannii Minogue broke down last week.

Now Halliwell will reprise her guest role on the judging panel.

She previously stepped in during the 2010 series and prior to that she was a judge on the ITV1 series Popstars: The Rivals - the show which created Girls Aloud.

An X Factor spokewoman confirmed Halliwell would be taking part in the Liverpool audition this week.
