Haringey-born singing sensation Adele returned to the top of the charts, breaking records held by legendary bands such as Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

The return of Adele’s album 21 to number 1 also means the singer equals Oasis and Queen’s chart record for the number of career weeks spent at the top of the albums chart.
Today is the album’s 20th non-consecutive week in first place since its release.
Combined with the one week that Adele’s debut album, 19, spent at Number 1, the Tottenham-born singer/songwriter has now notched up a career total of 21 weeks at the peak of the album chart, equalling achievements reached by both Queen and Oasis.
The Official Charts Company said 21 remains the longest-running Official Number 1 album for a solo artist in UK chart history, and the sixth longest-running Number 1 album overall - surpassed only by Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water, and The Beatles’ Please Please Me, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, With The Beatles, and A Hard Day’s Night.
It was also recently confirmed as the biggest selling album of 2011, shifting 3.77 million copies across the calendar year, outselling Michael Buble’s Christmas, which was number 2, by nearly three copies to one.
The future of London-based BGT losers Loveable Rogues in the music business has generated hot debate on Twitter.
