Singer Kimberley Walsh has secured a new Strictly fan, after taking tea with the Duchess of Cornwall.
Kimberley Walsh is used to dancing with Girls Aloud. Picture: BBC/Ray BurmistonThe Girls Aloud star, who appears in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, met with Camilla and the Prince of Wales yesterday when she went for tea at their home, Clarence House.
She obviously made a big impression, claiming she has the support of the 65-year-old Duchess for the BBC One show, which launched on Saturday.
Walsh, 30, took to Twitter to say: “Afternoon tea with the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House then off to my first dance lesson!”
She later added: “Ooh Charles was there too! Camilla said she’ll vote for me on Strictly! Ha! Right time to get my dancing shoes on! You ready Pasha Kovalev?”
The singer has been paired with dancer Kovalev for the show, and their first dance together will feature in the next episode this weekend.
Kimberley, who tweets as @KimberleyJWalsh, was one of seven Diamond Champions ambassadors treated to the champagne tea at Clarence House. The were honoured for their work volunteering with older people.
Also on the guestlist were Phillip Schofield, Gloria Hunniford, Denise Robertson, journalist Kate Adie, actress Patricia Routledge, and broadcaster Roy Noble.
