Pop star Jessie J is reportedly being sued in America over claims her number one single Domino rips off a US singer’s work.
Californian Will Loomis of the band Loomis and the Lusts is said to claim parts of Domino copy his 2008 track Bright Red Chords, and now he wants compensation.
In a statement, the singer’s lawyer said: “Loomis never consented to the use of his song. We look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy.”
A YouTube video purporting to show similarities between the two tracks has been blocked on copyright grounds.
Domino was performed by 24-year-old Jessie J at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace earlier this month, and on his band’s Facebook page Loomis wrote: “When I wrote this melody in my garage I never imagined it would be sung for the King and Queen of England. I especially never imagined it would be sung by Jessie J.”
Jessie J and her people have made no comment on the copyright infringement case.
