Ant and Dec last night claimed the gong for entertainment presenter at the National Television Awards for the 13th year in a row during a star-studded ceremony at London’s O2 Arena.
Accepting the award, Declan Donnelly (Dec) said “it was particularly nerve-wracking tonight because it’s 13”.
He said: “It still means such a huge amount to us.”
And Anthony McPartlin (Ant) added: “We’ll keep coming as long as you keep voting”.
EastEnders, Sherlock and Mrs Brown’s Boys were among other shows decorated at the ceremony, which was hosted by Dermot O’Leary.
Khali Best who plays Dexter Hartman in EastEnders won the newcomer award.
The stars of the new BBC drama The Musketeers presented the award for best performance in a TV drama to Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
He beat another on-screen doctor, Doc Martin star Martin Clunes, Call the Midwife’s Miranda Hart and Downton Abbey star Dame Maggie Smith to the prize.
His co-star Jenna Coleman and show supremo Steven Moffat accepted the award for the actor who is currently appearing in American Psycho in the West End.
Kiefer Sutherland handed out the award for best detective to Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, who appeared in a video-link from Los Angeles - dressed in a dinner jacket and shorts - and said he was “over the moon”.
Ant and Dec also picked up the landmark award.
The pair, described by O’Leary as “a British institution loved by one and all”, also received a tribute from the Prince of Wales.
Phillip Schofield read a letter from the Prince who said: “The warmth and empathy they show towards charitable causes, their viewers and their deep friendship towards one another are as great achievements as their countless and well-deserved awards. The nation has taken them to their hearts.”
The audience were shown a video tribute with appearances from their mothers, former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer, Robbie Williams and Simon Cowell.
Accepting the special award, Dec thanked Ant saying: “Neither of us would be here if it wasn’t for each other.”
