The mother-of-two from Bexley is still riding high after winning Sunday’s TV final with more than a million votes.

And it is likely to be a double success for the 36-year-old, who is a nailed-on certainty to be Christmas number one with her cover of Demi Lovato’s Skyscraper.

It was announced this week Bailey will also tour with superstar Beyoncé next year, but speaking this week she said she still misses the Clock Tower in her hometown.

“I have got loads of friends in the area and when I have the time I will go back – I do miss them,” she said. “I miss the Clock Tower.”

The prison officer said: “It has been non-stop but I did get a chance to do a bit of Christmas shopping on Wednesday night.

“I didn’t get it all done but I did get myself a watch – it’s something I’ve always wanted.”

Having beaten off teenager Nicholas McDonald to be crowned the 2013 winner, Bailey only heard from X Factor boss Simon Cowell a couple of days later, describing the conservation with the music mogul as ‘bizarre’.

She said she struggled to think of anyone but impressionist John Culshaw during their 15 minute chat.

“He said he was really pleased for me and that he liked the single. He mentioned that he saw something in me when I performed - he also encouraged me to have as much input as possible into the album,” Bailey added.
