Louis Walsh thinks the UK X Factor is so much better than the US version Simon Cowell hosts.

The Irish manager spoke out after stepping into Cowell’s shoes to cover for the mogul who was ill.

He thinks the UK version of the TV talent show is much more edgy - despite sitting next megastar meltdown survivor Britney Spears on the panel of the US show.

Walsh said: “I did two days on the American show because Simon was sick. I was sat with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid. I’d work on any of the ‘X Factor’ shows around the world, I love it.

“But I do think the UK ‘X Factor’ is different. I think it’s got the edge on everything because we always get great personalities.”

“The people that show up are incredible. The shows deliver pop stars like Olly Murs, One Direction, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis - it’s not necessarily the people who win the shows that are successful.”

Irksome Irish duo Jedward were cited by Walsh as proof.

“I mean, look at Jedward. They didn’t win but they’re still working all the time.”
