South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the writers of the hit show, which sold out for its Broadway run, introduced the play on stage.

The play premiered at the Prince of Wales Theatre ahead of its official opening on March 21.

Parker said to the audience: “We’re so excited to be here for the fan performance.

“We heard some of you lined up overnight and we just wanted to say, from the bottom of our hearts...you’re...crazy.”

The controversial musical, about a pair of young Mormon boys sent on a mission to another country, reportedly drew some protesters ahead of last night’s performance.
