Christmas will be celebrated at Waterloo station this weekend in the first event of its kind.
Commuters will be able to enjoy wine and beer tasting, get a shoe shine, receive lessons on how to wrap presents, and listen to some live music as part of ‘Live at Waterloo’.
Offers will also be made on hundreds of Christmas gifts and products at retailers in the station.
The festival will mark the completion of the station’s £25million revamp, which was completed ahead of the Olympics.
Richard Anderson, area manager from Network Rail and South West Trains Alliance, said: “Millions of pounds have been invested at Waterloo station to provide a brilliant choice of shops, cafes and restaurants.
“This means passengers and shoppers can now enjoy the convenience of a wide range of shops that perhaps wouldn’t normally be associated with a railway station.
“Waterloo, and in particular the new balcony area of the station, is a unique new shopping destination, which is perfect for choosing from a wide range of presents for family and friends or relaxing with food and drink over the busy Christmas period.”
It is believed that more than twelve million people will pass through the station over the Christmas shopping period.
