Here are more ideas for free experiences in London - great places you can enjoy for absolutely nothing.

For views

At 256 feet, Primrose Hill in north London offers some of the most spectacular views of the capital.

It's well worth taking a spin on the London Eye at least once but other times you can save yourself the cost and still gaze at the city from up high.

For celebrating

Trafalgar Square is one of London's most popular public spaces and attractions.

There is a lot to enjoy in the square itself, not least Nelson's Column and the Fourth Plinth where you can admire the latest piece of contemporary art.

The National Gallery is very close by, along with many other places of interest.

Celebrations for occasions such as St George's Day and Chinese New Year take place in the square.

For culture

The South Bank of the Thames is a cultural and entertainment hotspot, which boasts theatres, visitor attractions, art venues, shops and restaurants.

Many of the leading attractions such as London Aquarium and London Eye are paid-for but there are also many free events to enjoy at venues including the Southbank Centre and Tate Modern.

For worship

Westminster Abbey, the venue for many famous royal occasions such as the wedding of William and Kate, charges an entrance fee to visitors. It's not horribly unreasonable at £36 for an annual pass, but you can see the abbey for free by attending one of the daily services.

For posing

Yes, it's a zebra crossing - but it's a very famous one. This is the crossing The Beatles were pictured walking across for their 1969 Abbey Road album cover.

Of course, it is located close to the Abbey Road Studios, where the Fab Four recorded.

Grab three of your friends and someone with a camera to recreate the iconic pose - just watch out for any traffic.
