Vince Kidd, aged 22: Vince has written songs for record labels and was a contestant on The X Factor in 2007 with boyband Futureproof, under his real name Matthew Protheroe.

His huge vocal range led judge Jessie J to think he was a girl when he performed Madonna’s Like A Virgin in the blind auditions.

With his shock of blond hair and tattoos he has brought a distinctive look to the series. And he has also received the backing of Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch who sent a note of congratulation after Kidd tackled her song Back To Black on the show.

Tyler James, aged 30: Tyler was a close friend of Amy Winehouse after meeting her at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in north London.

He had his own record deal in 2001 and at one stage was managed by Simon Fuller, the man behind the Spice Girls, but his career failed to take off.

He has battled with heavy drinking and the use of sleeping tablets and said Winehouse’s death was his wake-up call to get back into music.

Vince and Tyler will be competing against favourite Bo Bruce, 27, from Wiltshire, whose father is the Earl of Cardigan and whose real name is Lady Catherine Brudenell-Bruce.

Completing the finalists is Leanne Mitchell, 28, from Lowestoft, a holiday camp singer who writes and plays keyboards and was once close to sealing a record contract.
