The Olympic cycling gold medallist was recently eliminated from the BBC TV show, and has since hit out at her dance partner, accusing him of having a “chip on his shoulder”.

She said: “Brendan is really hard work, I’m telling you.

“He’s like a child that needs all the attention on him. He’d be sliding across the dance floor on his knees and I’d be like, ‘Wow. Seriously, mate?’

“The dancers are the real stars of the show, but he’s got such a chip on his shoulder about it. It got to the point where I was putting all this effort in, but I didn’t feel any serious kind of connection.

“It was fun, but I got to the point where I’d be on stage and I just thought ‘I want to go home.’ “

It’s a big change of tune for the 32-year-old brunette, who praised Brendan when she reflected on her time on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ soon after her departure.

She previously said: “It’s been so much fun; I have loved every second of it. It pushed me totally out of my comfort zone which I think you really need to do in life.

“Brendan has been fantastic, the people behind the scenes here - the hair, make up, I love the costumes. It’s been a fantastic experience.”
