In April 2007, Lloyds TSB made a significant commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, setting a target of 30% reduction on 2002 emissions by 2012.

It takes the commitment of everyone at Lloyds TSB to meet this stretching target and we are inspiring our employees to rise to the challenge.

Our approach is to REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE, and we have developed a 6-point framework for action that is embedded throughout our organisation.

This framework is simple to employ but robust enough to be applied to an organisation of any size, shape and form.

Beyond managing our own immediate impact, Lloyds TSB is aiming to be part of the solution to climate change by engaging our customers and other businesses - using our strength in relationships to help our customers understand the risks and opportunities surrounding environmental change.

"Tackling Climate Change will be a long and challenging journey and Lloyds TSB is determined to lead the way. The bank's vision is to be the best financial services company - and that includes being an environmental leader."

Truett Tate, Group Executive Director Wholesale & International Banking, Lloyds TSB

"There isn't a single business in the UK that environmental issues including climate change won't impact in the coming years. Business leaders who have identified this are positioning their businesses even now. The challenge that we all face is finding ways to minimise the risks and maximise the opportunities without making the situation any worse - in other words building sustainable development into our business DNA. At Lloyds TSB, we are actively working with our customers and the UK government to help the drive towards a low carbon economy and more sustainable resource consumption."

Paul Turner, Head of Sustainability, Lloyds TSB
