Launched by Capital Radio in 1975, Help A London Child founders Richard Attenborough and John Whitney believed that the radio station should be a part of the community they broadcast to, and set up a charity to support grass-root projects working with London’s less advantaged children and young people
2002 marked the merger of HALC and Share a Capital Christmas, (Capital’s festive toy and food appeal), and was also the year HALC grants awarded topped £1 million for the first time
In the last 30 years over 10,000 grants have been awarded to children’s and young people’s projects in every London borough
In the last decade an amazing £10 million has been raised!
