While there are other options available it would be remiss of me to sugges you try anything other than one of the sumptuous steaks. So maybe not the best destination for vegetarians.

A started of cheesy garlic bread with a range of different focaccias tided us over until the mains came, and they certainly did not disappoint. I choose a 12oz sirloin steak while my companion went for an 8oz fillet. Both were exceptional and plates were cleaned. I went for mine medium rare, as the menu recommended and it came with a generous portion of chips and a cob salad (with a choice of dressings), caramelised fried onion and a choice of steak sauce.

The steak was beautifully cooked and was almost big enough for a main course itself.

It is not cheap but you can almost guarantee it will be excellent quality. The portions were so big that there was no room for dessert, despite some of the options being very enticing.

We went on a bust Saturday night but the waiting time for our food was more than reasonable. Our waitress Cheryl was very attentive (as she was with all of her tables I saw her serving) and gave advice when we were ordering.

All in all a very enjoyable evening and if volume of customers was an indicator to the food you’re going to receive there was no reason to doubt it would be anything less.

The Bexley branch is one of 25 Miller and Carter’s across the country (and five on the outskirts of London) and judging on this evidence, there will be a few more popping up in the not too distant future.

The restaurant also has a number of special Christmas menus to warm the cockles during this festive season. This includes the ultimate surf and turf, turkey roulade with dauphinoise potatoes and decadent chocolate fondant. See the website for more details.
