The little shop on High Road, Ilford, sees a steady stream of customers at lunchtimes, all eager to tuck in to the cheap and tasty freshly made kebabs, samosas and more.

Now you can experience Salim’s authentic Pakistani cuisine in a restaurant setting in its new venue next door to its current business.

The recently opened restaurant is undoubtedly one of Ilford’s hidden gems.

Upon entering the restaurant the first thing you notice is how intimate and cosy the venue is. The décor is simple - comfortable black chairs combined with crisp white table cloths gives the restaurant a clean appealing demeanour and the water feature at the back of the restaurant creates a calm atmosphere.

The staff are warm and friendly and the service is extremely efficient.

And the food is the same top quality grub Salim’s is known for in the area.

Spicy lamb kebabs and battered deep fried fish are ideal starters. Both are cooked to perfection and combined with traditional sauces they are the perfect start to the meal. Generous helpings are given from start to finish so leaving hungry isn’t an option.

For mains the chicken biryani, and vegetable and chicken curries served with soft warm naan bread will definitely leave you feeling warm inside.

If you have room for dessert why not try a traditional Pakistani pudding? Forget chocolate cake and apple pie, carrot halwa is a must have dessert.

Made from fresh carrot, milk and sugar, the dessert has a soft texture and tastes a little like sponge cake.

With its fresh food, great flavour combinations and warm service, it’s guaranteed that you won’t be satisfied by visiting Salim’s just once.
