Sample their fillet steak, on offer for a highly reasonable £11.95, and it quickly becomes clear they have delivered on that pledge.

Undeterred by the challenges facing Tottenham in the wake of last summer’s unrest, the pair, who grew up together in White Hart Lane, are a reminder of the resolve and spirit which runs through the community.

The Banc breathes a dash of modern style into the heart of West Green Road, where it takes residence in a former bank.

Its team of chefs come eye-to-eye with diners in a kitchen overlooking the restaurant and the fully-stocked bar is accompanied by an enticing lounge area.

As for the Mediterranean-infused menu, The Banc’s hummus is a great place to start and if you’re keen on meat then the chicken wings are also a treat.

The menu boasts a range of pasta and seafood dishes, as well as a variety of burgers, but the main attraction is the grill.

Among the array of grilled options, the fillet steak is a highlight and served best with The Banc’s leek mash, which is a real delight.

Tottenham might not be famed for its gastronomy but with establishments like The Banc, it’s moving in the right direction.
