If you’re anything like me, forward planning may not be your strong point. When it comes to getting a morning train I am often at the mercy of the overpriced, soggy sandwich sellers.

Next time I travel out of Euston, however, I may have found a solution – the Atrium restaurant at the MIC.

Founded in 1950, the MIC is a social enterprise offering budget hotel services and meeting facilities to businesses, as well as affordable beds for students.

It is also a great place to break your fast while waiting for a train. Although there is an all-you-can-eat affair that sets you up for the day, you can also design you own full English, paying only for the number of sausages, bacon rashers, tomatoes, etc your heart desires at a very reasonable rate. You can have a slap-up feed for around a fiver.

The Atrium also has departures from Euston, King’s Cross and St Pancras displayed on screens. And with fresh juices, coffee, tea, the papers and news channels, it’s enough to make me turn up early in future.
