Steamy ‘mummy porn’ best-seller 50 Shades of Grey has made author EL James the first to sell more than one million copies for the e-reader device, Kindle.
Online retailer Amazon.co.uk confirmed Erika Leonard is already its best selling author of the year.
Amazon said the Kindle edition of Fifty Shades was outselling the print book at a rate of more than two to one.
Part of the appeal of the Kindle edition may be that by-standers cannot see what material is being enjoyed by the reader – thanks to the plain Kindle being the equivalent of discreet packaging.
The print versions of her books - the others are titled Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed - take the top three places in Amazon’s bestseller lists.
Last week the paperback of Fifty Shades sold more than 200,000 copies, to establish a new weekly record.
