Bexley families catch cycling fever

Bexley families got on their bikes with the first free cycling training sessions of the summer.
Starting last Monday (July 30), the groups focus on helping parents understand how to cycle with their children safely on the road.
Dhillon Mistry, 10, attended the course with his mum Mina and seven-year-old brother Sachin. He said: “I want to cycle on my own so I can cycle to school. I want to know what I need to do to be safe.”
The course also looked at the correct way to wear a helmet and keeping your bike healthy.
Road safety officer Sally Barrett said: “We’ve had excellent feedback. We hope this will be a regular course in the future.”
It is available to Bexley residents and children attending schools in the borough. A maximum of four families participated in the course each day, with two sessions lasting two hours.
