Even Boris Bikes are getting into the spirit of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee having been re-liveried to mark the occasion.
Special Diamond Jubilee stickers have been applied to the Barclays Cycle Hire fleet in time for the bank holiday weekend.
The Jubilee emblems will be in place on more than 1,000 until shortly after this weekend’s celebrations.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “The Diamond Jubilee is a perfect excuse to celebrate all that’s great about London. Our Barclays Cycle Hire scheme is one of the city’s crown jewels so it is fitting that our regal blue bikes are dressed up for the occasion - at no cost to Londoners thanks to Barclays.
“This party livery gives people an added incentive to use two wheels to soak up all that’s on offer over this historic time.”
A specially wrapped bike featuring the Union Jack will also be on display in Barclays flagship Piccadilly branch until after the celebrations.
The official emblem for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 is the winning design following a national competition for children aged between six and 14. It was drawn by 10-year-old Katherine Dewar, from Chester.
