Barclay’s Boris Bikes cycle hire scheme has announced record-breaking user statistics in the week it celebrates its two-year anniversary.
The Barclays Cycle Hire scheme has revealed that a whopping 14 million journeys have been made using Boris Bikes over the last two years.
And with a new daily record of 45,748 journeys completed on Monday, July 23, the figures indicate that growth in the scheme’s popularity is set to continue.
Ashok Vaswani, CEO of Barclays UK retail and business banking, said: “We are delighted to have reached a second anniversary for this important scheme as it makes such a positive difference to everyday life in London, its people and the economy.”
To celebrate the anniversary, an improved Barclays Bikes mobile app has been released to help users plan journeys and find docking spaces for their bikes.
“As cycling continues to transform the city of London we are looking forward to more Londoners and tourists using the schemes and using the Barclays Bikes app to help them get about,” Mr Vaswani added.
