An inquest will open today into the death of a five-year-old boy following a fatal collision with a lorry in Elephant and Castle.

Hichame Bouadimi, of Southwark, died at the scene after the incident in St George’s Road, which took place at around 3.45pm last Wednesday.

Police are still seeking witnesses and information into what happened.

Hichame is believed to have been with his mother at the time. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He was taken to a south London police station and later bailed to return in early January 2013 pending further inquiries.
