The Queen and Prince Philip are due in Bromley today as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour marking the Queen’s 60 years as monarch.

Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh are expected to visit the ‘London as a Global Centre of Fashion’ display in Queen’s Gardens which will feature fashion spanning the Queen’s reign. They will meet designers based in the capital during their visit to the town this morning.

The royal couple were then due to see guests attending the Jubilee Road street party and then meet people from local businesses.

During their visit the royal couple will see winning outfits designed for them by local primary schoolchildren as well as displays created by students and designers, on show in the Glades shopping centre.

Excited Bromley school children have been planning for the visit for months with schools including James Dixon School in Anerley holding contests to select children to line the route to welcome the monarch to Bromley.

Pupils from the borough’s schools have creating large banners so the royal couple can recognise groups from different schools.

From there they were due to walk into Market Square and the High Street before leaving the borough to head to Merton and Richmond in south-west London.

There will be a party atmosphere in Bromley all day with a falconry display and Duke of Edinburgh exhibition in Queen’s Gardens and Bromley North Traders Association will be holding a street party in High Street north to continue the celebrations in the afternoon.
