The BBC has sold its landmark Television Centre in West London for around £200m.
Property developer Stanhope PLC snapped up the 14-acre site in White City.
The distinctive circular building is a fine example of its type and today is a Grade II listed building.
Bosses originally wanted to vacate the building five years ago, but the sale was delayed.
The national broadcaster is relocating to a new base in central London and to MediaCity in Manchester.
Senior BBC programme director Richard Deverell hailed the White City site – home since 1960 to the corporation.
He said the building had “played an extraordinary and central role in the history of the BBC” and would “not be forgotten”.
