Only a third feel confident about transport and logistics, according to the latest CBI findings today.

Just 13 per cent are stockpiling supplies while 12 per cent plan to reduce deliveries, the survey of 250 companies found.

As many as eight-out-of-10 have not planned any special measures, while 29 per cent are unsure of suppliers’ ability to get deliveries to them.

The CBI’s London Director Sara Parker said: “Firms which haven’t prepared for the huge influx of people need to turn their attention to this urgently.

“But it’s encouraging that many are already thinking about flexible working.”

Half the firms intend to let employees work from home and adapt their hours. Almost as many say they will allow staff time off to attend events.

One-in-four companies expect to do better business with the influx of spectators, while 64 per cent at least expect the same level of customers.
