Kasey Gordon, 15, died after being stabbed in the heart by Serif Aslan, 34, in January last year.

It happened in Tottenham, near to the school where Kasey was a pupil.

Aslan launched the attack after being censured for comments he made about a female pupil.

Kasey was killed after he went to aid another pupil.

Kasey’s mother Verona said today the family would never get over his death: “Kasey was the soul of my family. He was a born leader,” she said.

Revenge was not wanted by the family, she added: “Nor do I have hatred in my heart for the man who took my son’s life if he is truly mad.”

Other schoolboys were injured during the incident in West Green Road. Their identities were protected in court.

After fatally injuring Kasey, Aslan calmly walked away from what was labelled “a scene of carnage.”

The court heard he had failed to take his medication in the preceeding period.

Today Aslan was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Richard Horwell QC, prosecuting, said: “This main part of the incident lasted about 30 seconds and, when it was over, the defendant calmly walked away.

“He left behind a scene of considerable carnage. The knife that he had carried - the knife he had been told not to carry - was used by him to devastating effect.”
