A Tottenham man has pleaded guilty to robbing a 91-year-old woman who was out shopping.
Eric Banton appeared at Wood Green Crown Court today and admitted the robbery of grandmother Lynne Elmer-Laird.
She was left with severe bruising and a broken arm, and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. Although she was discharged she had to be readmitted following concerns about an injury to her head.
Mrs Elmer-Laird, of Highgate, needed an emergency operation to remove a blood clot from her head, and has since been discharged and is recovering.
Banton, of Northumberland Park, stole only a travel pass, a bankcard and £20 cash from the pensioner during the attack on August 14 in Church Road, Highgate, at the junction with Talbot Road.
The 49-year-old is due to be sentenced on October 5 at Wood Green Crown Court.
