Hazell’s voice cracked as he confirmed his address – the same location in New Addington, Croydon, where Tia Sharp was found dead last Friday.

The 37-year-old appeared via video link in Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court.

He is being held at Sutton police station, in south London.

Twelve-year-old Tia went missing from her home more than a week ago.

Her dead body was found at her grandmother’s home, in which Hazell lived as her partner.
