09:20 11 May 2012

A rare camera worth £130,000 was stolen from a film crew in East Ham while they were shooting a music video.

Detectives from Newham police are looking for witnesses who saw the theft and assault involving members of a film crew.

They had finished filming the video in White Horse Road at the junction with High Street South at around 4.20pm on Thursday March 29.

As they started loading their equipment into the back of their van, Suspect A approached the crew and ran off with the camera.

One of only three or four of its kind in the UK, the camera is a very rare ARRI Alexa Studio Camera with an estimated value of approximately £130,000.

A 33 year-old member of the recording crew started chasing Suspect A towards Vicarage Road.

As he caught up with Suspect A, he was punched in the face. Suspect B then approached the victim preventing him pursuing Suspect A any further.

Shortly afterwards, both Suspects made off in a red-coloured vehicle towards High Street South.

Suspect A is described as a slim build, black male, aged 20 to 25-years-old, and 5’11” tall with short black hair and he was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans.

Suspect B is described as a stocky build, black male, aged 25-29 years old, and 5’11” tall with short black hair and he was wearing a black jacket and black jogging bottoms.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to contact Newham Violent Crime Unit 0207 275 5711 or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
